Case Study · Hagedorn's Appliances

One operation.
Online and on the floor.

Hagedorn's has been selling and servicing appliances out of Erlanger, Kentucky since 1941. Their website does the same work the showroom does. The catalog they actually carry. Parts and service alongside the sale. Pricing and inventory that update the moment a sale happens.

The Brief

A site that works the way the showroom does.

Bill Hagedorn opened Hagedorn's Appliances in 1941. More than eighty years on, it is still family-owned and locally operated, still selling and servicing appliances out of one showroom on Dixie Highway in Erlanger, Kentucky. They are the only appliance retailer in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area that services what they sell. That fact runs through everything they do. Sales, delivery, installation, parts, ongoing repair.

The old way of running a website alongside that operation worked, until it didn't. Stock the floor cleared moved off the site on a delay. Rebates and brand promos had to be re-keyed. A customer would call in for a part, and the person picking up the phone was working from a different system than the person on the floor. The site needed to be part of the business, not a brochure for it.

What We Shipped

What the site actually does for Hagedorn's.

Built for the homeowner who walks in the showroom

The site reads the way Hagedorn's customers actually shop. By category, by brand, by what fits the space. Refrigeration, laundry, cooking, dishwashers, outdoor. The browse experience matches the floor, not a generic e-commerce template.

Parts and service on the same site as the sale

Hagedorn's is the only retailer in the area that services what they sell. The site reflects that. Parts ordering, service requests, and delivery scheduling live next to the appliance catalog. One number, one team, one record of the customer.

A catalog that matches the way appliances are sold

Category, brand, finish, fuel type, dimensions, price. Counter-depth, panel-ready, built-in. The way the floor talks about the catalog. Filter URLs are shareable, so a sales rep can send a customer a curated short list straight from a conversation in the showroom.

Product pages built for appliance shoppers

Specs, finishes, dimensions and clearances, manufacturer rebates, high-resolution imagery. Every page surfaces Hagedorn's in-house delivery, installation, warranty, and financing. The buyer sees the whole offer, not just the SKU.

A site that stays current on its own

New products from the manufacturer feed appear automatically. Price changes, including the monthly rebates Hagedorn's negotiates through their national buying group, flow to product pages without anyone re-keying them. Clearance and scratch-and-dent stay in sync with the warehouse.

Local search that finds Hagedorn's, not the big-box

Per-location SEO and structured data tuned to Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. A homeowner in Erlanger or Florence searching for a Bosch dishwasher finds Hagedorn's showroom, not a chain twenty miles further out.

How We Built It

Four phases. One process we run on every build.

01

Discovery

A working call with the Hagedorn's team to understand the brand, the catalog, the customer, and how they sell and service today. We came out of it with a map of the buyer journey and where the previous site was getting in the way of the showroom.

02

Design

A homepage that leads with what Hagedorn's actually does. Laundry, refrigeration, cooking, dishwashers, outdoor, and the in-house parts and service team. A catalog taxonomy a homeowner can navigate. Product pages built for appliances, not retrofitted from a fashion template.

03

Build

Storefront engineering on HomeSource Commerce. Accessible product pages, fast catalog browsing, per-location SEO, mobile-first checkout. The site and the showroom run on one set of data from launch day.

04

Launch & Support

Hosting, monitoring, conversion analytics, and ongoing platform support. The site is part of the platform. It keeps getting better after launch.

Designed for Hagedorn's

Custom design work, not a stock template.

The visual layer was designed and engineered by our in-house team for this dealer, this brand, and this audience. A few of the dealer-specific pieces we built:

  • A homepage that leads with the showroom

The hero is Hagedorn's actual floor. Neon signage, brand displays, the Dixie Highway interior. Not a stock kitchen render. Custom hero layout, custom photography direction, the family business showing up where the buyer lands.

  • Heritage as a feature, not a footnote

Hagedorn's has been in business since 1941. The site treats that as a story to tell, not a tagline to bury. Custom Our Story page, archival photography, a homepage feature for their restored Metro City dispatch truck. Eighty-five years of family ownership shows up on the page.

  • Parts & Service as a first-class section

Hagedorn's is the only retailer in the area that services what they sell, so parts and service sit beside the appliance catalog in the main nav. Custom landing page, custom intake form, custom imagery of the in-house team. Not buried in a footer.

Built on HomeSource Commerce

Online and in-store, one operation.

Hagedorn's runs on a custom HomeSource Commerce build, designed and engineered by our in-house team. HomeSource Commerce is the e-commerce platform built specifically for independent appliance, furniture, and plumbing retailers. The site is part of the same system that runs the sales floor, so the team works in one place instead of two.

Your website and your POS share the same data.

Every online sale updates inventory in HomeSource the moment it happens. Every floor sale updates the website. Pricing changes from manufacturers flow to product pages automatically. No reconciliation. No drift.

Built by a team that designs for this industry.

Catalog structures, product specs, finish swatches, rebate callouts, delivery zone logic, multi-location SEO. Designed in for appliance, furniture, and plumbing retailers. Not retrofitted from a fashion or DTC template.

Designed and built by the HomeSource team.

No site builder. No template marketplace. Our in-house design team works with you to build a storefront on top of the platform that runs your business.
