Case Study · Albo Appliance

Beat the big box.
Online and on the floor.

Albo Appliance has been an independent appliance retailer in the tri-state area since 1952. Three South Jersey showrooms, fifty-plus brands from Whirlpool to Wolf, and one promise: Always the Best for Less. Beat the big box on price, beat them on service, and stand behind every install. The website does the same work. Same prices, same inventory, same quote cart the sales floor can finish in person.

The Brief

Seventy years of independent. The website had to earn the same trust.

Albo opened in Audubon in 1952. A family operation, selling appliances and standing behind them. Seventy-plus years on, the business is three showrooms across Moorestown, Audubon, and Mt. Holly, the catalog has grown past fifty brands, and the promise has not changed: Always the Best for Less. Beat the big box on price, beat them on service, and stand behind every install.

The old website looked the part but ran on its own data. Inventory and price on the screen didn't always match what was on the floor, and the team spent real time reconciling between them. We rebuilt the storefront on the same system the showrooms already run on. One catalog. One price. One quote cart a homeowner can start at the kitchen table and a salesperson can finish at the counter in Moorestown.

What We Shipped

What the site actually does for Albo.

A quote cart the sales floor can finish in person

A homeowner builds a quote on the kitchen-table laptop. The salesperson in Audubon, Mt. Holly, or Moorestown picks it up at the counter and closes it on the floor. One cart. One record. One conversation.

A catalog fifty brands deep

Whirlpool to Wolf, Bosch to BlueStar, GE to Sub-Zero. Category, brand, finish, fuel type, dimensions, price. The way the floor talks about the catalog. The filter URL is shareable, so a customer can send a curated short-list back to the showroom.

Luxury as its own way in

Sub-Zero, Wolf, Viking, Thermador, BlueStar, Bertazzoni, Miele. A dedicated luxury entry path with the merchandising that high-end shoppers expect, separate from the everyday lanes but running on the same catalog and the same pricing.

Per-location SEO across three showrooms

Moorestown, Audubon, and Mt. Holly each have their own location pages, structured data, and search presence. A homeowner in Mt. Holly finds the Mt. Holly showroom, not a competitor across the river.

Product pages built for appliance shoppers

Specs, finishes, dimensions and clearances, manufacturer rebates, high-resolution imagery. A buy box that handles the homeowner checkout and the trade quote from the same product page.

A site that stays current on its own

New products from the manufacturer feeds appear on the site automatically. Price changes, rebates, and promos flow to product pages without anyone re-keying them. That includes the Memorial Day push and the rolling brand promos.

How We Built It

Four phases. One process we run on every custom build.

01

Discovery

A working call with the Albo team to understand the brand, the catalog, the customer mix across three South Jersey showrooms, and how the floor sells today. We came out of it with a map of the buyer journeys for homeowners, designers, and builders, and where the old site was getting in the way.

02

Design

A luxury entry path that earns the brands on it. A filter taxonomy a homeowner and a kitchen designer can both navigate. A quote cart flow the floor team will actually use. Product pages built for appliances, not retrofitted from a fashion template.

03

Build

Custom storefront engineering on HomeSource Commerce. Accessible product pages, fast catalog browsing, per-location SEO across all three showrooms, mobile-first checkout. The site and the showroom floor run on one set of data from launch day.

04

Launch & Support

Hosting, monitoring, conversion analytics, and ongoing platform support. The site is part of the platform. It keeps getting better after launch.

Designed for Albo Appliance

Custom design work, not a stock template.

The visual layer was designed and engineered by our in-house team for this retailer, this region, and this customer. A few of the Albo-specific pieces we built:

  • Beat the Big Box hero rotation
Albo's own brand identity carried into the homepage. The Beat the Big Box Guarantee shield, the Always the Best for Less promise, the seasonal brand promos. A rotation the Albo team controls without touching code.
  • Three showroom location pages
Moorestown, Audubon, and Mt. Holly each get their own page. Address, hours, photos, staff, the showroom's specialty. Not a generic store-finder. A homeowner in Mt. Holly lands on the Mt. Holly showroom and recognizes the building.
  • Luxury as its own entry path
Sub-Zero, Wolf, Viking, Thermador, BlueStar, Bertazzoni, La Cornue, Miele. A merchandising lane designed to read like a luxury showroom with large imagery, generous spacing, brand storytelling. Separate from the everyday catalog, running on the same data.

Built on HomeSource Commerce

Online and in-store, one operation.

Albo runs on a custom HomeSource Commerce build, designed and engineered by our in-house team. HomeSource Commerce is the e-commerce platform built specifically for independent appliance, furniture, and plumbing retailers. The site is part of the same system that runs the sales floor and the back office, so the team works in one place instead of two. One single pane of glass across the whole operation.

Your website and your POS share the same data.

Every online sale updates inventory in HomeSource the moment it happens. Every floor sale updates the website. Pricing changes from manufacturers flow to product pages automatically. No reconciliation. No drift.

Built by a team that designs for this industry.

Catalog structures, product specs, finish swatches, rebate callouts, delivery zone logic, multi-location SEO. Designed in for appliance, furniture, and plumbing retailers. Not retrofitted from a fashion or DTC template.

Designed and built by the HomeSource team.

No site builder. No template marketplace. Our in-house design team works with you to build a custom storefront on top of the platform that runs your business.
